Kellie Thompson is an RN who volunteers on her days off from the hospital doing medical street outreach in Commerce City and Thornton. She first got involved working with individuals experiencing homelessness working at the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless helping people apply for Medicaid after the approval of the Affordable Care Act, and after a few years attended CU School of Nursing Accelerated program to earn her BSN in 2017. Since then she has worked at Stout Street Health Center (an integrated primary care/mental health/dental/eye clinic with a pharmacy and case management) as well at Tepeyac Community Health Center (non-profit primary care office serving primarily uninsured Spanish-speaking patients) before moving to Denver Health and now works night shifts as the charge nurse in the Clinical Decision Unit. She was able to travel to London in 2023 to present with Kiera, RN, at the International Street Medicine Symposium on why nurses should be involved in leading street outreach activities.
